National retailer Argos re-launched its Crewe store today (Thursday 20th May) with a Champagne breakfast, unveiling a new look for the new decade. The Worshipful the Mayor, Councillor Gordon Baxendale and the Mayoress, Mrs Felicity Baxendale. officially re-opened the store during the special ceremony.

Last year the centre, which attracts more than 450,000 shoppers each month, helped raise thousands of pounds for local groups by giving free space on the mall for fundraising activities. Now the centre is hoping that by raising awareness of its desire to work with charities, more groups will get in touch...
Thousands of hopeful chocolate-lovers entered The Market Shopping Centre to win the one-metre high Easter egg.
Shoppers were asked to guess the weight of the giant egg, and although many came close, Louise Rees from Richmond Road in Crewe was the closest to the right answer – 25kg!!!
The 27 year old, child minder, is now looking forward to the delicious chocolate, but she may need a little help to crack it!
Louise said: “What a great prize. Everyone loves chocolate and it looked so tempting on the mall outside JJB that I had to enter. I am going to donate it to the Leighton Hospital children's ward in Crewe.”
Glenn Davies, Centre Manager said: “We will miss having the jolly egg on the mall – it certainly became a talking point and security was tight. I am delighted it will be enjoyed by so many children.”
