The Market Shopping Centre is located in the heart of Crewe town, with easy links to rail and road networks. The Market Shopping Centre has an amazing variety of shops from large multiples to small, independent retailers meeting your every need from a diamond ring to a new spade or a bar of soap! The Cheshire 2K Retail Study (Chestertons) identified Crewe as the second largest concentration of convenience retailing within Cheshire. Equally, after Chester, Crewe has the largest share of comparison expenditure in the Cheshire catchments.
The last significant upgrading of Crewe town centre took place in the early 1990s when the current scheme of pedestrianisation and environmental enhancement took place. In 1998, The Market Shopping Centre was developed, giving the town a welcome retail boost. It has since become a focal point of the town. As well as meeting all your shopping needs, the mall has provided valuable space for local clubs and charities to raise their profile in the community. Activities as diverse as a local college demonstrating hairdressing, through speedway bikes on display to Cheshire Highways operating an alcohol-free bar have all taken place at The Market Shopping Centre.
In June 2004, The Market Shopping Centre car parks were awarded the Secured Car Parking award which was superceded in November 2004 by the “Park Mark” award. This award follows assessment by specially trained police and independent assessors and recognises that work is undertaken to reduce crime and the fear of crime within the car park facility.
In a further move to improve The Market Shopping Centre for our visitors, we have recently adopted a policy of being “smoke free”. This aims to improve the air quality and reduce the risks of breathing in someone else's smoke whilst shopping in the mall. Signs are prominently displayed by the mall entrances, and smokers are encouraged to put out their cigarettes before entry.
